ABC’s Nurse Clare:
Celebrating 20+ Years of Compassion
From the moment you meet Clare, you feel it—an immediate sense of calm, trust, and connection. She carries a quiet confidence, blending deep knowledge with genuine warmth. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel seen, heard, and safe—and in her line of work, that means everything.
From the moment you meet Clare, you feel it—an immediate sense of calm, trust, and connection. She carries a quiet confidence, blending deep knowledge with genuine warmth. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel seen, heard, and safe—and in her line of work, that means everything.
Clare also speaks about the strong relationships she has built with home care aides
and staff at ABC, and the importance of communication and support systems. These connections allow the teams to collaborate, problem-solve, and truly make a meaningful impact on the clients they serve.
Her compassion and professionalism come through in every story she shares. From clients who were initially unsure about having “new” people in their homes, to those same individuals becoming like family. From complex cases with uncertain outcomes to clients who are now thriving because of ABC’s care. And then there are the moments that stay with you.
She recalls a daughter who once thanked her simply for talking to her mother—who hadn’t spoken to anyone in quite some time.
“It’s one thing to care for someone,” Clare says softly, “but it’s another to care about them.”
And caring is truly synonymous with Clare.
Her passion for working with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients reflects her deep empathy. She meets people where they are—without correction or judgment, creating
a sense of dignity and comfort in situations that can feel overwhelming. Just as importantly, she supports families, guiding them through difficult decisions and encouraging them to take thoughtful steps—planning ahead, using available resources, and easing into care in a way that builds trust over time creating a safe and supportive space.
Clare believes strongly in the power of home care. In a familiar environment, clients can feel more like themselves—more in control. For those who may otherwise become isolated, especially in larger settings, that sense of comfort and connection can make all the difference. Starting with minimal support and building over time helps clients feel in control of their journeys, something that becomes increasingly important as life can begin to feel uncertain.
She feels the same about hospice care, where being at home, surrounded by loved ones, allows for peace, dignity, and meaningful moments when they matter most.
After more than two decades, Clare’s impact can’t be measured in years alone. It lives in the relationships she’s built, the trust she’s earned, and the countless lives she’s touched—often during the most vulnerable times.
This Nurses Month, we recognize Clare not just for her experience, but for her heart.
Because long after the visit ends, what she gives stays with people.
And that is the true meaning of care.
